About Colloidal Silver
Silver has been used for thousands of years in Asiatic Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine and in the early 1800’s research began on colloidal silver.
To understand true colloidal silver you must first understand the history of colloidal silver. You may have heard about all the ways silver was used in ancient times but did you know that the use of colloidal metals started back in the mid 1800’s? Before modern medicine we used the natural resources around us and in the early 1900’s there were many leading researchers that tested colloids and gave us a guideline as to what the most stable and effective colloids are. At this same time the many crude forms of colloidal silver which were being produced played a part in the fall of colloidal silver and medicine. As history finds a way of repeating itself we must look back at those who spent countless hours researching colloids so that we can ensure the safety of those who enjoy natural healing.
Colloidal Silver Timeline
French surgeon Dr. Carl Credé was the first to proclaim the benefits for using silver nitrate to reduce neonatal eye infections. He was amongst the first surgeons to use silver nitrate to prevent wound infections.
Michael Faraday makes the first colloidal gold. This solution is on display at a London museum. Faraday also develops the Faraday-Tyndall Cone Effect. This is a test used currently to test for a true colloidal solution.
Dr. Henry Crooks after years of research states, ““Silver in the colloidal state is highly germicidal, quite harmless to humans and absolutely non-toxic. Rather than in a chemical compound, the silver in a colloidal state may be applied in a much more concentrated form, with correspondingly better results. Staphylococcus, streptococcus organisms are killed in three or four minutes upon contact. In fact there is no microbe known that is not killed by colloidal silver in six minutes or less at a dilution of as little as 5 parts per million, and there are no side effects whatsoever from the highest concentrations.”
Alfred B Searle, founder of the pharmaceutical conglomerate of the same name, wrote a book called “The use of Colloids in Health and Disease”.
At this time there were no modern antibiotics such as penicillin. Silver was being tested on many microbes to be used as the standard antibiotic.
During Mr. Searle’s testing he not only found Colloidal Silver to be very beneficial due to its antibacterial and antiviral properties but he also gave us his blueprint of what the most stable and effective preparation was.
Because of his work, along with others prior to 1938, medical claims were able to be made regarding the effectiveness of colloidal silver. This is important because the FDA made a ruling on this.
Penicillin is discovered and starting in the early 1930’s, because it was it was more cost effective to make, becomes the pharmaceuticals answer to antibiotics.
Because of this discovery and cases of Argyria becoming more frequent, this being due to inferior and incorrect manufacturing of silver sols which Mr. Searle accounts for in his book, silver colloids took a back seat to penicillin.
Colloidal silver starts to make a comeback. Dr. Carl Moyer receives a grant to develop a better treatment for burn victims. Dr. Moyer enlists the aid of Dr. Harry Margraf of St. Louis as the Chief Biochemist. Dr. Margraf found silver cited in the medical literature as a powerful antimicrobial agent.
John Richardson, an electrical engineer and inventor, is diagnosed with an enlarged prostate. John consulted with a friend who had done extensive research into natural medicines and told him to try colloidal silver. She told John that it would be hard to find and also be very expensive. John found colloidal silver and bought enough to alleviate his condition. His friend was correct in that John was buying it for $100 an ounce.
Because of his results John decided to use his background and expertise to develop a way to produce True colloidal silver at affordable prices.
John forms Silverado Research Inc and begins working on a way to make a product that is exactly what was being used by Dr. Searle pre-1938. “I started researching how and where colloidal silver was produced. I found that my friend’s predictions were true. It was extremely rare and costly. I found colloidal silver had been used and tested thoroughly prior to 1938, but had fallen out of use because of the expensive, archaic method used for manufacturing, and penicillin was a less expensive alternative. The problem of affordably producing a true colloidal silver intrigued me. The more information I found convinced me that colloidal silver should be readily available to the public.”
John, after 8 years of work, develops a continuous process which allows him to produce an exact pre-1938 colloidal silver at affordable prices.
John Richardson and Herb Bales form the Silver Colloidal Co., Inc., and began selling 4 oz. bottles Because it was the identical formula to the pre-1938 version, the FDA approved it, as per a September 13, 1991 letter received from Consumer Safety Officer, Harold Davies of the U.S.Food and Drug Administration. The Silver Colloidal Co. has the FDA Manufacturer Registration #60943.
The FDA’s Centre for Drug Evaluation and Research has stated:
“Colloidal silver is considered to be a pre-1938 drug. These products may continue to be marketed without submitted evidence of safety and effectiveness [required of all drugs marketed after 1938] as long as they are advertised and labelled for the same use as in 1938 and as long as they are manufactured in the original manner.”
John and Herb take product to Kimball Labs in Salt Lake City, UT to have it tested at an independent lab. Kimball labs becomes the leading lab for testing silver solutions.
Silver Colloidal Inc contracts with FutureMart out of Texas to private label true colloidal silver.
This relationship continued until the owner of FutureMart passed away and are no longer in business.
The International Colloidal Silver Council is formed. This was a group of medical doctors and researchers who were aware of the early downfall of colloidal silver back in the early 1930’s due to as Dr. Searle states, “Among other causes the premature supply of improperly prepared and unstable colloids has been one of the most serious sources of trouble.” Their main concern was to ensure that any product containing their seal had gone through rigorous testing and met all pre 1938 conditions.
Dr. Carl Anderson does a blind study on Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy using John’s true colloidal silver. Dr. Anderson states, “The results are quite remarkable and merit further investigation by the medical community.”
BioChek Labs publishes “Colloidal Silver Resource Book”. This book was endorsed by Silver Colloidal Inc and used to help educate the public on colloidal silver products.
John Richardson passes away. His son Brett Richardson continues to produce True Colloidal Silver.
Casey Bales, Herb Bales grandson, takes over Colloidal Silver Inc and partners with SunForce Health and Organics to market and sell True colloidal silver.
